Jamie Harrison clocks up 300 Road Race wins!

Yesterday M46 Jamie clocked his 300th Road Race Win at the Walan Fun Run - don't have details but it is a fantastic achievement.
His total tally actually is;
Track, road and cross country 490 open wins. In fun run/road races 300 1sts, 398 top three, 466 top ten.

My neighbour Kathy Hemerick reported the Clem 7 Tunnel 10K was no fun! She reported Temps 40 O C and no air! People were collapsing around her and what would normally take her 45/50mins took 60mins.

The results are posted here

Queensland 2010 5000m Championship

The right side pelvis has not improved! Might be just jarred or it might be something else either way I'm unable to run at the moment.
I'm out of tomorrow's Clem7 Tunnel 10K! I just gave my entry to my neighbour (Go Kathy!)

The Queensland Open State 5000m was run last night Jared Hauschildt won in 14m30 2nd was Ronnie's son Jonathan Peters 3rd Jay Twist.
M40 Dennis Fitzgerald, ran 15m33 for 6th off 6 weeks training!
Fellow M40 Geoff Berkeley was about 5 secs behind Dennis !!

Bald Pink Running Man with Shaded Box Shorts

Tues 5.00am 11Km Roo+Lake S L O W

My right side pelvis ached a bit following Sundays K's and it ached a bit more after Mondays run. I took it real easy this morning trying to assess if there is a problem. I think I will take a couple of days off to see if it settles down. You can guess what I'm thinking!~

Central

Mon 5.30pm 6KM Roo 23m00

Continuing my theme of 'out of the comfort zone' and trying to give my body a remembrance of what it feels like to push myself. I set out with every intention of running as fast as I could over this short circuit. I'm happy enough to run 23m00 though I don't run this course by itself very often - i.e. maybe when tapering, or recovering from injury, but checking out my best time ever on this course was 20m43 (16/06/07).
Warm and Humid conditions!
The finely tuned runners body adapts to conditions we place it under pretty quickly. I reckon my sweat glands are conditioned to open at the slightest exertion.
My 15 min walk from the office to Central (Train Station) is a case in point. I try to balance pace with likely platform waiting time before getting on the icy cold, air conditioned train. If I go too fast and and the train is more than a minute late, I'm in trouble, when I stop walking I feel the heat build up and the pores on my back open up and I can feel the sweat saturating my shirt (too embarrassing degrees!! like 50% back).

Nathan Road

I wanted to see if I could pull myself out of the 4m30 per K rut I've been running.
So I thought I'd try some K intervals at Nathan Road, Kippa-ring.
I did 2K warm up (9m00!) then;
3m20
3m27
3m19
3m24
with 2mins recovery.
As hard a session as I can ever remember for effort. My breathing was laboured, my recovery non existent but it was a start and I was only expecting to run 3m30's.
The Nathan Road KM is 900m dead straight rough tarmac with a 90 O turn before the final 100m run just along side the small airport. You can make out Nathan Road in the photo above and the left turn in front of the hangars. The road is built marginally above the surrounding wet lands. The airport itself is also very low lying and beyond that is Deception Bay.

Ramshaw

Sun 4.00pm 22KM 2 X Roo+Lake 97m44

I found it quite hard having the resolve to go twice around my course but there again I was thinking if Ed Whitlock can do all his training around a tiny lap of a cemetery I have rich variety by comparison.
I know its very early in my return but I'm nevertheless alarmed whenever I time my runs and compare current times with those when I have run this course fully fit. Today I feel as if I'm going at a reasonable pace but back on April 28th 2008 (just prior to breakdown) I ran this in 84m04, it barely seems possible!

Moreton Bay Fig Tree

Fri 5.00am 11KM Roo+Lake 5.00pm Weights/Core

There I was feeling proud of myself, completed another morning run, 77Km+ for the week.
Whilst out on my run I manage to pass an old boy (always runs without a top) running with a running partner , a much younger female. I haven't lost it I thought as I past them running straight angles on the grass as they curved around the very curvy footpaths (my advantage).
I get home shower, hosed down my car (I'd parked under a Moreton Bay fig tree day before and it was covered in crap!), have breakfast, get ready for work, drive to the station. On my way , I see the old boy and the young lady still out running! It must have been two hours after I'd seen them on my run!
It put my paltry effort into perspective - I wondered what they must do for a weekend long run!!!!

Biggest Loser

Wed 5.00am 11KM Roo+Lake 6.00pm Weights/Core
Thur 5.00am 11KM Roo+Lake

Still Just base building.
Momentarily thought about stride length on this mornings run with a mental note to myself to do more flexibility work.
72KG after today's run that's down from 75KG around Christmas, I ain't no Biggest Loser but I'm slowly getting there. Target Racing Weight is 65KG.

Steam City

Mon 6.00pm 11KM Roo+Lake
Tue 5.00am 11KM Roo+Lake

I knew it was humid but yesterday/today has reached new levels of sweating incredulity.
I spend 7 and half hours in an air conditioned cocoon at work and on leaving George St offices am immediately enveloped by the invisible deadly assassin ! I know you runners in the States and Europe are suffering in the cold but please spare a thought for us Antipodeans being subjected to these extremes.
Back in the UK my buddy Jeff Kaye used to measure heat/humidity/effort of our training runs by the relative ratios of sweat to dry on our shirts. On a very hot/humid/effort day,our tops would perhaps get 100% on the back but never more than 50% on the front. We never measured shorts but I'm guessing we'd have been 50% back and not more than 25% front.
Brisbane current conditions = 100% top & bottom front and back within minutes of running! I didn't bother running in a top again this morning. My shorts looked like I'd just got out of the pool, I left puddles where I sat out on the patio to ice my knees!
