Last Saturday week after my bike run I followed up on the Sunday with a run bike. The transition from run to bike is much more agreeable that way around. However, all was not well with my right knee being pretty sore. I was surprised on the bike that I was unable to rotate the pedals with any degree of force. Monday I took as a recovery day and Tuesday morning had to cut run short halfway through roo+lake and walk home. Have been in quite a bit of pain at night and through the days so got the first available appointment with my consultant at Brisbane Private (Dr.Peter Friis). I got it scanned immediately but have to wait till next Monday for results.
I have the CD with lots of pretty pictures of my knee, a few are attached here;
I wont do anything until I get the results.
Unfortunately I will only be a spectator for the sprint Tri at Redcliffe.

The area between the two bones is the meniscus, I believe. I wonder if that white part in the third photo indicates a tear. I'm trying to remember what my MRI looked like. I think it looked like that (torn meniscus).
Hi Bob, I had a torn meniscus in 2009 which I had trimmed via arthroscope. My consultant told me that that any subsequent MRI will always give an indication of torn meniscus. I'll await the specialist advice on what they see. As for the white bits I think it is true that white indicates problems in bone tissue but I am not sure about cartilage. The scan provides fascinating insight but I fear the degenerative march of time could be the main cause - we shall see.
Hi mate . My X-rays looked like that .Well actually yours look a bloody hell sight worse . How did you get 92.8% age grading with that lead in the saddlebags ? Amazing . I said to my doctor just get rid of the bloody things . Amputate them . Saved heaps on X-rays and these new prosthetic blades are brilliant . Saves weight too . You've had the cranial implants so you may as well go the full hog . Hope to beat this ridiculous shooting rap and catch up with you . I follow your blog all the time mate . Love the flaming bagpipes . How do you do that ?
The world of sport and celebrity has held it's collective breath in anticipation of the diagnosis of the most controversial knee on the planet . Experts from all corners of the globe as well as well intentioned faith healers have combined resources to look for the slimmest of rays of sunshine that might herald the dawn for a triumphant resurgence of the GTrain to his former Garmined glory . Lord Garmin , as he now prefers to be called , has thanked via twitter his league of fans for their support and well wishes . Lord Garmin has asked that rather then send flowers that well wishes make a cash donation to the charity , "Runners Without Knees" . A special Park Run on the first Saturday in May at Minipinni Park lands has been set aside as a "let's run with the GTrain Day " that is expected to draw a considerable crowd and also to provide an opportunity to buy GTrain merchandise and memorabilia and have your photo taken with the hero himself.
Good News!
A complex radial tear to the post posterior horn of the medial meniscus!
My consultant believes those findings are what's left over from having the tear in the same location trimmed a few years ago. Nothing else of major consequence visible and he thinks there is enough cartilage to carry on. Prescribed some new anti inflams so hopefully running wont be too painful.
Despite a complex tear to the post posterior horn of the medial meniscus it has been revealed by sources close to Lord Garmin that miraculously the most slender of threads of cartilage , detectable only under extreme magnification and invisible to the untrained eye , has somehow remained connected in place despite the best of efforts of its owner to dislodge it . On this slender thread of cartilage now rests the hopes, dreams and aspirations of a generation of has beens and never weres who would aspire to be better than their mediocrity gives them any right to contemplate or aspire to . To celebrate the occasion a special Park Run has been organised for the 3rd of May at Minnipinni Park lands for the league of GTrain supporters to gather together and compete in what has been dubbed the "Slender Cartilage Thread 5k Dawn Special. " Sources very close to the Queensland Premier suggest a special thanksgiving breakfast at a nearby five star residential mansion may be on offer to selected fans who can write in 5 words or less why they should be considered worthy to attend this function where Lord Garmin will sign autographs and play Thunder Struck on his Flaming Bagpipes . Alternatively a substantial donation to the Save The Cartilage Foundation may offer a slender hope of invitation for less literary aspirants to gate crash this must attend , never to be missed , high society extravaganza . Lord Garmin announced via twitter he bears no malice towards ' FM ' but that a certain ex Boy Scout will not be welcome under any circumstances .
