I recieved my record certificate today, a bit late considering it isn't any longer!
Strange that they should round it up from 8m56.46 to 8m56.5 on the certificate , those hundredths of a second make a lot of difference! I missed Ronnies record in 2006 by less than a couple of tenths (8m59. 5) and Jamie only just managed to 'out dip' me to record his 8m56.34 this January.
However, still very proud to have achieved the mark. It will motivate me when I return to running, can I get back to that level?
You wanna betcha! I'm surprising myself with my continued twice a day flogging. If I can put half that much determination into my running I'll be OK, only another month before I resume. I'm confident the pelvis will have healed but not so sure about the knees!
M45 Jamie Harrison ran a fine 32m25 today at the NSW State 10K Champs. I suspect he will probably have expected to run a little faster considering his 31m43 10,000m and a couple of the names in front of him perhaps shouldn't!

Good to see a Canberra (30 year old) boy running second - Anthony trained with us a few years ago before moving onwards and upwards.
David Criniti the Canberra marathon winner has backed up well.
Hey, I have one of those 3000m certificates! Not M45 though. I received it a couple of years ago, as it was/is still the record, despite running the time 25 years ago. It is the only non-relay certificate I ever got.
Your blog is one of the two best I read.....
Hi SpeedyGeoff, thanks for the insight on Haber. Please tell me more about your 3000m performance?
And thanks for your comments.
'YoungLegs for older runners' of course is a Masters Masterclass, more like a fully blown web site than a blog!
It very good to inspire people like me Mr.David...i am trying to grow my physical abilities...and when u have some time; i need advices from pro runners like yourself...kind regards
i need to grow my mental concentration in running...because there is no limit only mind barriers.
Hi Raul,
It is my belief that mental fortitude plays a vital role in all running. It is the difference between good and exceptional.
Good Luck with your own challenges
