The right calf is still sore, I have been wearing a surgical stocking (from my hernia op) all day (under trousers) but couldn't bring myself to run it! Now if I had flesh coloured ones like Paula maybe I'd give it a go but my bright white silky ones are way too poncey!

No, David, they are in! Chris Solinsky wore them in his US record 10,000m run (26:59 - first white guy under 27:00). He's also the biggest guy ever to run that fast.
He looked pretty damn good and nobody made fun of his socks.
I assume American 10,000m runners are lining up to get them.

When you said you were "doing a Paula" I though you were going to tell use how you squatted down for a piss during a race! Thank heavens it was only the socks!
Hey Tokyo- I had heard about Solinsky's 'World Record' for his height and weight run! Didn't know he ran in the 'Paula's though so thanks for enlightening us.

I think it might have been Tom H who coined the phrase 'Doing a Paula' which in runners vernacular actually meant to squat and go (number 2's I'm afraid!) I was just being mischievious in using it as my blog post title!!
There's always the Black Skins socks, mate :)
