Showing to all the world the effectiveness of ancient Scotish Herbal remedies the self styled Thane of Garmin and advocate for Scottish independence , Dave MacSweeney , showed he had lost little speed with a triumphant return to form at last week's North Lakes Park Run . The mystery elixir and catalyst that fuelled this comeback performance has been dubbed colloquially as Banquo's revenge . It has been sanctioned by the IAAF and will soon be available commercially from selected pharmacies that promote and sponsor the lucrative GTrain brand .

I stopped the ibuprofen and have started some natural remedy which  seems aimed at arthritis sufferer's
Contains Tumeric, Ginger, Black Pepper, Boswellia , Devils claw, White willow twig bark!!
So long as it hasn't got Lances bollock I should be OK!!
More steady running this week though I did go for a run up Mount Mee ~ road not trail on Sunday. I ran 4;40's going up the hill but was very steady running back down at only 5:30 K's tip toeing to save my knees.
So to this morning and parkrun. Was up early for tea and a bit of stretching. 2k warm up jog to start. Today I always intended to start easy again first lap and go hard for last two laps.
It is incredible how easy running 3;40's feels when your in a race, not that my race pace is that much quicker 3;18's.
Someone came with me for the first part of that second lap, but their sound faded away as we ran through the lapped runners.
Not having done any intensive training recently I could really start to feel the effort become harder to maintain as my bodies ability to deal with the lactic pain has weakened.
I finished in 17:01, a 44 second improvement on last week. I do not believe by racing all three laps that I could gain another 44seconds to run 16:16 but I am probably still in condition to run 16:30 which considering the limited training ain't bad. It was 25 O C this morning and humidity was as ever sky high. I still believe with a few weeks of interval training and cooler temps this winter I can go sub 16:00.

Round about the cauldron go
In the poisoned entrails throw
Eye of Newt and toe of frog
wool of bat and tongue of dog
Devil's claw and Lances' Bollock
Adder's fork and blind worm's sting
Lizard's legs and owlet's wings
Tumeric and white willow bark
For a charm of powerful trouble
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble !

Legal if rubbed in and not taken orally

Still got the speed to run these sort of times off limited training. I dream of a sub16.

World Master's Athletics said...

World Master' Athletics was rocked overnight by two new sensational world age group records attributed to the flying Scotsman , David McSweeney . The marks included a stunning 400 meter performance of 44.0 ( age graded at 114%) and equally impressive 1:54 for 800 meter (age graded at 103%). Sources close to McSweeney have down played the performances sighting perhaps electrical interference from a transit of the planet Venus across the sun or perhaps interference from swamp gases that plague the North Lakes area due to the residential area being built on reclaimed tidal marshes but Garmin has confirmed the times as legitimate . This leaves the question on every one's lips and the metaphorical elephant in the room as to what percentage of this stunning achievement can be attributed to the GTrain's sensational new high performance elixir , dubbed Banquo's Revenge . Scientists have dismissed Lance Armtrong's bollock as being the X factor in the potent brew and suggest the active ingredient may be Bat's wool harvested from Australian Flying Foxes . McSweeney , alias Mr.Garmin , is more noted as a distance specialist and is the reigning World Park Run Champion . However it now looks as if the proponent for Scotish independence is dabbling his not inconsiderable talents at shorter distances and certainly looks a sure Gold Medalist in his 400 meter speciality at this year's Commonwealth Games in his native Scotland .
