M45 Jamie Harrison 5000m 15m46.05

NSW State Champs.
Jamie must have front run a fine sub 16m in what I'm guessing were difficult conditions (Windy if anything like Brissey these last few days!) . M50 Keith Bateman again beat M40 Paul Arthur!
Some good 800m performances  amd Jamies Dad - what a 1500m at 67!

Hey Dave. Can't tell you much. He was on a relay team in the 500k Relay years ago. He was three minute k runner then and handy to have on the team. Doesn't train much. Was classy high-school runner. He went to the USA as youngster and came back, it seems, without too much desire to race. He used to front up for fun runs in Towoomba years ago and win them just off cycling and a few k's a week. Sorry i can't tell you his PBs. Haven't been out to QMA much this year so still haven't got those addresses for you.

Cheers,
Ron.

Hi Dave

A bit of wind but mostly the heat 30C in the car, perhaps 33/34C on the track. The under 50 and over 50 groups had been merged but when we got trackside the didn't have enough lapscorers so us oldies had to wait for a 2nd race. That was bad for Paul Arthur and Me (he's not fully fit, I think, and he did 6ft), but also for jamie as we would have tried to stay with him as long as possible.

My quads were stiff before and after - might have been really bad night's sleep, heat or i'm just not 100% after injury - heat I think as jamie felt the same as me - he should have run 15:10 ish, I think and I was targeting 15:37.

Anyway - I have another 5000m in Portsmouth (UK) on 9th May so hoping for good weather and a pack

Cheers

Hi Ronnie and Keith,
Thanks for your comments!

Ronnie - Brett Winter seems like some kinda Alf Tupper performer (A kids comic book character you probably haven't heard of), very enigmatic! Looking forward to see if we can keep him competitive.
Keith - Jamie agreed the heat was a big factor for him! Good luck in Portsmouth - knowing your luck you'll get a great pack but gale force winds!
