34m32 A big leap forward

Gold Coast 10km 34m32 41st 1st M45-49

I felt I ran well to about the 6K mark (9m55 at 3k 16m30 at 4.8k turnaround) then seemed to be coasting in a group that didn't seem to be pushing but hey I'm happy!
Tommy H ran 33m21, Denis Fitzgerald 33m16 1st M40-44 was just in front of Tommy . Ronnie Peters 34m44 1st M55-59 was about 12 secs behind me!. Scotty Lawrence who I warmed up and down with, ran 36m17, Matty Phillips 36m54.
Great running conditions , thousands taking part, great to be back!
Michael Shelly ran a course record 28m53 !!
Results are here.
Tom Highnam is going to back up by running the Half tomorrow!

David, great run. You are back. A few post race beers no doubt.

Anyway, after the recent move from Sydney to Galway I joined the Galway Harriers. I was at training today and I got chatting to one of your old clubmates at Shaftesbury Harriers. Small world. He also knew Johnny Broe. The name is Martin McEvilly. Here is a bit more info I found on the club website:

A sub 30 minute 10km runner and a 2:16 marathon. Class times. Keep up the good form. Matt

Check out Joshes blog about living and training for Triathlon as a young Australian abroad (Netherlands).
Thanks Scott - now I must check out how you did in the Marathon?

Sorry Matt, I forgot to respond!
NO beers !! I have decided that I'm going to be serious!
Sydney to Galway ! Surely that is the wrong direction?? Yes I remember Martin - a nice guy. A quite Irishman with a beard - Yes very classy times, it is really good to know he is still running, say Hi from me.

Terrific that you're finding form again. Well done. I was in that race, but didn't see you at the turn ... you must have been going too fast!

Cheers,

Craig
