Keith Bateman M54 5000m 15m52.1

Fri 5.00am ran 11KM Roo+Lake slowly in the rain.

Last night in the NSW State titles in Sydney Keith Bateman (M54) ran 5000m in a fantastic 15m52.1 which improved the NSW M50 record by 10 secs and was just 3 secs shy of the Australian M50 record! In a couple of months Keith will be 55 y.o. and he will have no problems breaking National records then. Pete Magill says that's a 93.93% Age Graded performance!
This was a momentous run ! Congratulations!
Results also confirm good runs from Brisbane locals Jared Hauschildt, Jay Twist and Ronnie's son, Johnathon Peters.

Like Mona said in the interview you mentioned it has to help running in the open divisions against the younger fellas as one of them.

I don't know but Keith Bateman probably doesn't consider himself a "Masters runner" but just a runner like Mona.

I had a very close view of Keith's run. And I mean very close. Inspirational stuff. Matt

Matt, a fine 15m54 for you then!
Scott, I have to agree, racing age group Masters isn't competitive until you get to National level. Racing Open for us old geezers is.The joy of freaking out the youngsters by having silver haired old dudes running along side is!

The hair is actually blonde and I dye it silver for effect! BTW coach was happy (ish) but thought I should have done a bit better :-)
